A shared knowledge service for agent ecosystems. Honeypot is a standalone Black Candle service with a deep shared knowledge database: all file types, readable and writable by humans and multiple agents, transported over Courier, with Lumen integration through its policy-controlled plugin system. Public is the default zone; private zones are available.
The full implementation architecture (Revision 1, 10 October 2026) is filed as issue #1 in the honeypot repo. Key decisions from that document:
- Stack: independently deployed Rust service; PostgreSQL as the authoritative catalog, policy store, audit journal, job queue, and initial search engine; private content-addressed object store for immutable file bytes.
- Access model: humans and agents invoke the same application operations; HTTP and Courier serve as adapters. Public defaults to shared access within an authorized workspace (anonymous public reading is an admin toggle, off by default).
- Hard tradeoff, handled honestly: global deduplication and guaranteed destruction of every identical copy on each individual deletion cannot both be promised, so private deletion has explicit assurance levels with receipts.
- Phasing: Phase 1A internal core/API/Courier milestone; Phase 1B adds baseline full-text search before production; Phase 2 expands search and adds the Lumen plugin.
Planning. No implementation code yet; the architecture document is the current source of truth.
